It only takes one second

It only takes one second

That feeling you get when you check something off of your to-do list. Takes one second to create it. When you cross the painted line on the road of your charity 5K. Takes one second to feel the accomplishment. You hit a revenue goal at work. That feeling when you open your pay stub to see a bonus in it. Takes one second to crack a small smile and say “yes!” in your mind! What is creating these feelings?

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers. It helps regulate movement and emotional responses, and it enables us not only to see rewards, but to take action and move toward them! Since the human species are biologically visual-driven, it is important to SEE your goals. You must make that check mark on your to-do list paper, see the painted line on the road of the 5K so you can cross it…

Why is this important? If you are able to provide your customers, or client base a visual of how they have hit one of their goals…you will create a moment of dopamine release in their brain! What does that do for you? Multiple hits of dopamine are highly addictive. Your customers will continue to come back for more. This simple chemical create the feelings of fulfillment, love, and trust. It only takes a second for your customer to check their text message, and see that you send them a one-liner of what they achieved today because of working with you (or your company).

Final thoughts.

Keep it simple. Dopamine “hits” only last for a second. It’s the basics that keep them coming back for more.
